Munich (dpa / tmn) – Airbag jackets can offer bikers extra protection. In moderate accidents, they have good protection potential up to a certain speed. The ADAC tested three models – and found them all to be “good”.
The jackets examined took around 80 milliseconds from the first push to the full inflation of the airbag. If the motorcyclist crashed into the car, protection would already exist at that moment, the traffic club judged. The new models have their own sensors and can also be used autonomously. No more extra components on the vehicle. There are minor differences in handling and restoration.
For example, the “eVest” from Held / In & Motion can be repaired by the user himself after the release. The “Tech-Air Street-e System” from Alpinestars for 850 euros and the “D-Air Street Smart JKT” from Dainese for 600 euros, on the other hand, would have to be serviced by the manufacturer or dealer. The latter is the only one that can also be combined with any suitable protective clothing.
