She was one of the most successful basketball players in Serbia: as captain of the national team, Milica Dabovic won, among other things, the bronze medal at the 2016 Olympic Games. The television station Sport.1 now reports that this success did not only have positive consequences.
The 38-year-old is said to have received immoral offers again and again: “A club president wanted sex from me. But I refused,” she said recently according to the Sport.1 report to the Serbian newspaper “Alo”. A short time later, she was supposed to pay dearly for her refusal: “You kicked me out three months later. And I wasn’t even paid for that period,” said Dabovic.
But it was not the only request of this kind: she was repeatedly confronted with such offers. “I signed a contract and when I joined the club I got a call from someone in charge who asked me to sleep with him. I refused and left the club.”
In retrospect, she was proud not to have accepted the offers: “I am happy and have never spread my legs,” Dabovic is quoted on the website. “Not when I earned CHF 20,000 a month and not when I didn’t get a single cent for playing. I have a clear conscience and can look in the mirror without any problems.”
From 1998 to 2016, Milica Dabovic had played in 18 basketball teams. After the Olympic Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, she ended her career in 2016.
