Rome, 20 July (askanews) – Poste Italiane announces that today, 20 July 2020, four ordinary stamps enclosed in sheets belonging to the thematic series “the Italian artistic and cultural heritage” dedicated to Raffaello Sanzio, on the fifth centenary of the death, are issued by the Ministry of Economic Development value of tariff B zone 2 50g, equal to 3.90 euros. Print run: two hundred thousand copies per sheet equal to eight hundred thousand stamps. The sheet printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato SpA, in rotogravure printing, on white, coated, neutral, self-adhesive, non-fluorescent paper. The sketches by the Philatelic Center of the Operational Directorate of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato.
The vignettes of the four stamps enclosed in a sheet reproduce respectively a work by Raffaello Sanzio and precisely, starting from the top, from left to right: “Self-portrait – Uffizi Galleries in Florence”; “Triumph of Galatea – Villa Farnesina in Rome”; “Madonna and Child – Raphael’s Birthplace in Urbino”; “Marriage of the Virgin – Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan”.
The legends “RAFFAELLO SANZIO” and “1483 – 1520” complete the stamps; “SELF PORTRAIT” and “UFFIZI GALLERIES – FLORENCE”; “TRIUMPH OF GALATEA” and “VILLA FARNESINA -ROMA”; “MADONNA COL BAMBINO” and “CHRISTMAS HOUSE OF RAFFAELLO – URBINO”; “MARRIAGE OF THE VIRGIN” and “BRERA ART GALLERY – MILAN”; the word “ITALY” and the tariff value “B ZONE 2 50 g”.
The leaflet reproduces a detail of Raphael’s work, Triumph of Galatea and the four stamps arranged in two rows are punched in the center. The leaflets are completed by the legends “RAFFAELLO SANZIO”, “1483 – 1520” and “ITALIAN ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL HERITAGE”.
