27 infections found in further operations in Mamming


Barely a week after the Corona hotspot became known in a large agricultural company in Mamming in Lower Bavaria, the Corona tests in the district are in full swing. Now more corona infected people have been found.

Mamming (dpa) – After the massive outbreak of corona in a vegetable farm in Mamming in Lower Bavaria, 27 corona infected people were found in another company in the community.

As the district office in Dingolfing-Landau announced on Saturday evening, the infected and their contact persons were immediately separated and isolated from those who tested negative. “Due to the proximity of the two Mammingen companies, there were apparently contacts between the seasonal workers that led to the transmission of the virus,” said District Administrator Werner Bumeder, according to the message. Around 600 people work in the newly affected company.

During the massive outbreak on a vegetable farm in Mamming, as of Friday evening, 232 harvest helpers had been infected with the corona virus. Almost as many – 231 harvest helpers – had been tested negative for the second time, according to the Dingolfing-Landau district office. The company is a large vegetable farm that grows strawberries, cucumbers, cabbage and beetroot.

Since Thursday, all seasonal workers in the district have been tested for the corona virus. The results of 25 out of 26 companies have now been evaluated. No infections were found in the 23 other companies. Mamming is a rural community with a good 3,300 inhabitants near Dingolfing with its large BMW plant; Tests among local residents have been negative almost without exception.
