Baltimore (USA), Jul 31 (EFE) .- Venezuelan Ranger Anthony Santander hit a strange home run while hunting for starter Blake Snell’s streamer and drove in three runs for the Baltimore Orioles, who defeated the Rays 6-3 from Tampa Bay.
The Orioles were losing 0-2 in the fourth inning before Venezuelan designated hitter Renato Núñez doubled.
Santander (2) followed with a line to the center and Rays center fielder Kevin Kiermaier backed down to the wall, jumped, and put the glove over the seven-foot barrier.
The center fielder coordinated a perfect jump, but the ball fell out of his glove and landed on the wall. Kiermaier knelt, then stood up and shrugged, as Santander walked the bases, carrying a companion along the way.
Second baseman Hanser Alberto (2) also bounced the ball off the field in the eighth inning by penalizing pitcher Ryan Solomon’s pitches, solo.
In the fourth episode, the Dominican receiver Pedro Severino (2) sent the ball to the street against Snell, alone, with no outs in the inning.
Severino’s home run was common against Snell, who won the American League Cy Young Award two years ago and is now trying to return from an injury-ridden 2019 season.
The victory was credited to the relief Paul Fry (1-0) in an entry and two thirds.
For the Rays, who have lost three games in a row after a 4-1 start, he lost Peter Fairbanks (1-1) in one-third and one inning.
