Audi opened its farewell season in the DTM with a five-fold victory. The Swiss Nico Müller won the first race on Saturday in the Belgian spa, and even behind it the Ingolstadt team showed their dominance, which they already knew from the previous year: Jamie Green (Great Britain), Loic Duval (France), ex-champion Mike Rockenfeller and defending champion Rene Rast followed .
The best BMW starter was the Austrian Philipp Eng. Rast had been on the podium until after the half-way through the race, but then struggled with heavily degrading tires and had to make a second stop. However, only those who sit in an Audi seem to have a chance of winning the championship this year. The brand with the four rings had already won driver, team and brand titles in 2019.
A season has been running since Saturday, which is probably the last of the DTM in its current form. Audi announced its farewell at the end of the year in April, leaving BMW as the manufacturer for the time being. It is completely unclear whether and how it will continue.
