The Scottish Premiership started the new season exactly 76 days after the corona-related demolition last season.

The Glasgow Rangers, who face Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League round of 16 second leg on Thursday, won their opening match at FC Aberdeen 1-0 (1-0). Record champions Celtic Glasgow won 5-1 (2-1) against Hamilton Academical. (Europa League round of 16: Bayer 04 Leverkusen – Glasgow Rangers, Thurs. from 6.55 p.m. in LIVETICKER)

Kent scores for the Rangers

The Rangers around team manager Steven Gerrard prevailed in Aberdeen thanks to a goal from Ryan Kent (21st). In Leverkusen, the “Gers” have to make up for a 1-3 defeat from the first leg on Thursday.

Captain Scott Brown of defending champion Celtic presented the championship trophy on Sunday before kick-off against Hamilton. A normal cup handover by the Scottish association was not possible due to the season break and the applicable corona restrictions.
