Bundesliga: Ginter announces future decision

Matthias Ginter wants to fulfill his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach despite offers from top European clubs. “Yes, I will definitely stay in Gladbach,” he said to the kicker.

Atletico Madrid, Chelsea and Inter Milan would have liked to sign the 26-year-old central defender. “Of course, I registered the inquiries and was pleased about this certain appreciation, but also often enough emphasized how well I am in Gladbach,” said Ginter.

His current contract expires in 2021, but the club can extend it until 2022. A long-term extension would also be an option for Ginter: “I can imagine that too, but there is no rush there. No discussions have yet been held on this topic because of Corona either.”

In the coming season, he will play with Gladbach in the Champions League. He sees the future brightly: “The current team has great potential and the coach again means a huge added value for us. The club is currently building something with the great fans and the environment.”
