Chelsea with staff shortage before Bayern game

Chelsea not only had to digest the 2-1 defeat against city rivals FC Arsenal in the FA Cup final on Saturday (the highlights in the video), but also lost three players due to injuries. Christian Pulisic, Cesar Azpilicueta and Pedro suffered injuries and are therefore not available in the Champions League against Bayern.

“You will definitely not be fit for the coming week,” said blues coach Frank Lampard at the press conference after the game. Ex-Dortmund Pulisic, early scorer 1-0, and captain Azpilicueta retired due to thigh muscle injuries. Both left the field supported and in tears.

However, Pedro got even worse: In a rescue attempt in injury time, the Spaniard fell on his left shoulder and probably shot it out. Afterwards he suffered from shortness of breath and had to be supplied with oxygen. The game only ended after 14 minutes of injury time.

“It is really a disappointing end for him because it was probably his last game for Chelsea,” said Lampard. Pedro will leave the club after the season, his expiring contract will not be extended. The 33-year-old is associated with a move to AS Roma.

Chelsea faces the second leg of the second leg of the Champions League in Munich next Saturday with their backs to the wall, the first leg lost the Blues at Stamford Bridge 0-3. In addition to the injured trio, Lampard also has to do without Marcos Alonso and Jorginho. Alonso saw red after an assault on Robert Lewandowski, Jorginho is missing after the 3rd yellow card.
