As of autumn 2022, citizens should be able to access their statutory, occupational and private pension rights through an online portal. “The aim is to provide citizens with a supplementary source of information for sovereign pension planning that provides an overview of old-age provision at a glance,” according to a report by the portal “The Pioneer” in a bill by Federal Minister of Labor Hubertus Heil ( SPD).
The text is currently in the departmental vote, reported “The Pioneer” and the Düsseldorf “Handelsblatt”. The various pension schemes are to be brought together using the tax identification number. For this, Heil wanted to set up a new central office at Deutsche Rentenversicherung, which the portal would then also operate.
The information or stand announcements provided so far by providers and carriers are “not always easy to understand and only suitable to a limited extent to get an overall view of the achievements or achievable old age benefits”, “The Pioneer” further quoted from the draft. The new law should come into force in early 2021.
According to the “Handelsblatt”, however, a one-year pilot phase is initially planned. Regular operation should then only start in October 2023, it said. The participation of the pension funds is initially voluntary, but can later be prescribed by regulation.
