Cristiano officially says goodbye to the Golden Boot, which will go to Immobile

Rome, Aug 1 (EFE) .- The Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo was left this Saturday outside the list of summoned by Juventus to face Rome, on the last day of Serie A, for which he officially said goodbye to the fight for the title of league top scorer and for the Golden Boot, which will go to the Lazio striker Ciro Immobile.

With his sights set on the momentous return match of the last 16 of the Champions League against Lyon, scheduled on August 7, Cristiano agreed with coach Maurizio Sarri not to play the last game, which for Juventus, already champion from Italy, it has no significance.

Cristiano was the last rival of Immobile to snatch the Italian “capocannoniere” and the Golden Boot, but the last two days, in which the Lazio striker took a four-goal advantage (35 to 31), converted this goal of CR7 in something almost unattainable.

Immobile, who plays this Saturday in the field of Naples, accumulates 35 goals in this Serie A and is already officially the top scorer of the tournament and the Golden Boot 2020, as he has one more goal than the Polish Robert Lewandowski, who has already finished the German Bundesiliga.

No one can take the Golden Boot from the Lazio forward anymore, who will return to Italy an award that he has lacked since 2007, when he was won by then-Roma captain Francesco Totti.

Immobile will play equally motivated this Saturday in Naples, because with a double he can overcome the historical record of goals in a season of Serie A (36), which belongs to Gonzalo Higuaín since 2016.
