AGI – James Murdoch, the 47-year-old younger son of the Australian publisher and tycoon, Rupert Murdoch, resigned from the board of directors of News Corp., the publishing group which includes giants of the caliber of Wall Street Journal, The New York Post e News UK.
James Murdoch announced his resignation, citing “differences over some editorial content published in the company’s news and other strategic decisions”. On the board of directors of News Corp since 2013, James Murdoch is the most ‘liberal’ member of the Murdoch family and in the past he had publicly criticized some of the editorial contents of the family business.
In January, he and his wife Kathryn had spoken against the positions taken by the family business and by the “denialists” of climate change during the fire crisis in Australia: in particular, they said they were extremely disappointed by the continuous denial, “when there is clear evidence to the contrary”; and James’s criticisms had suggested a fracture within the family clan.
Especially since the other brother, Lachlan, 48, seems to have conservative ideas, much more aligned with those of his father.
