Michael Gregoritsch is back in Augsburg. After a six-year loan from FC Schalke 04, the ÖFB legionnaire returns to his home club – where he most recently fell out of favor.
FC Schalke could not imagine a long-term cooperation with Gregoritsch after its meager performances in the spring – he started the trip back to Augsburg. The Friday edition of Salzburg Krone wants to know that renewed lending is no longer an option.
“I know what I’m capable of and I want to show that,” said the 26-year-old, confirming his stay at FC Augsburg. The striker will not have a positive memory of his time at Schalke. “I really haven’t had a good year,” he said of his 23 competitive appearances last season. There was a hit and an assist.
Gregoritsch also emphasized that there were no tensions between him and the FCA: “I had a good time here. The first two seasons in particular were really good. Of course there was a bit of frustration before I left Schalke. But I got myself back then adopted by everyone with a handshake. “
Before moving in spring 2020, Gregoritsch publicly expressed his transfer requests, which led to a suspension among the Augsburgers. An apology from the Austrian international followed later.
