Liverpool FC presented its jerseys for the upcoming 2020/21 season on Saturday.
The English master uses a red base color as usual, but stripes in white and turquoise are printed on the collar with a V-neck and the sleeve ends.
The jersey is reminiscent of the Reds’ home shirts between 1993 and 1996. The colors red, white and teal are also preserved in Liverpool’s traditional coat of arms. The color turquoise is also said to represent the famous legendary animal Liver Bird, which sits at the top of the famous Liver Building in Liverpool.
The jersey is the first under the new manufacturer Nike to replace the previous outfitter New Balance.
Liverpool fan shop overloaded
“It is important to show maximum respect at the start of every new partnership and we have done so by focusing on the club’s core identity,” said Nike’s Scott Munson on the club’s homepage. “It shows a clear, strong design that every fan knows immediately that it belongs to Liverpool.”
The lettering for the name and number on the back of the jerseys is intended to recall the characteristic spelling used on Anfield Road.
The Reds fanshop was already overloaded shortly after the announcement, the waiting time for interested fans was over an hour.
