New York (dpa) – James Murdoch, a son of media mogul Rupert Murdoch, has resigned his seat on the board of the fatherly media group News Corporation (News Corp) with immediate effect.

The reason he gave on Friday (local time) in a letter to the US stock exchange authorities was disagreement about certain editorial content and other strategic decisions.

Murdoch did not give details of the disagreements such as the topics in his letter. In January, according to media reports, he criticized the company for denying climate change in some of its in-house media related to the bushfires in Australia.
