Media Spain remains on heat alert, with seven regions in orange level


Madrid, Aug 1 (EFE) .- Some thirty provinces from ten autonomous communities are on alert this Saturday due to heat, at an orange level – a significant risk – in large areas of Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Madrid, Region of Murcia, Valencian Community and the Balearic archipelago, where thermometers will exceed 40 degrees.

Up to 43 degrees will be reached in the Vega del Segura (Murcia) in the central hours of the day, 42 will be measured in the Cordoba and Seville countryside and the interior of Valencia and thermometers will mark 41 degrees in the Genil basin (Granada), Sierra Morena (Jaén), Guadalquivir Valley, the Altiplano and Northwest regions, in Murcia, and the southern coast of Valencia.

40 degrees will be reached in the provinces of Almería and Cádiz, points in the interior of Granada, Huelva, interior of Malaga, southern Seville, Lleida, Tarragona, Alicante, Albacete, La Mancha de Ciudad Real and the Tagus Valley (Toledo).

On the yellow level -risk-, due to temperatures around 37-39 degrees, the Almería coast, the mountains of Cádiz, Córdoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaén, Málaga and Seville, the island of Mallorca and the provinces of Huesca are located , Teruel and Zaragoza.

They will also touch 37-38 degrees on the north coast of Valencia, south of Ávila and Salamanca, points of Albacete, Ciudad Real and Cuenca, Montes de Toledo, Guadiana Valley, Siberia Extremadura, Badajoz and Cáceres, and in the pre-Pyrenees and The coast of Barcelona and the Pyrenees of Girona will reach 34-36 degrees and punctually 37, 36 in the Sierra de Madrid and 35 in Soria and Guadalajara.

On Sunday, temperatures experience a notable decrease in the north, which will spread progressively throughout the territory, although it will continue to be very hot in the southern half of the country.

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) maintains the orange alert for tomorrow in the communities of Andalusia and Castilla-La Mancha, where thermometers could occasionally exceed 43 degrees in the Genil basin (Granada), Guadalquivir valley (Jaén) and Sierra de Guadalhorce (Málaga), while in the Cordovan and Albacete countryside, thermometers will rise to 39-40 degrees.

Already at a yellow level, due to temperatures around 37-38 degrees, the mountains of Córdoba, Jaén, Málaga and Seville, the Region of Murcia, the autonomous city of Melilla and the provinces of Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Toledo, Lleida, Tarragona, Alicante, Valencia and the Community of Madrid.

This gradual drop in temperatures will continue in the early stages of next week, although from Tuesday they could pick up again and give rise to a very warm new episode.
