Apparently in the dispute over editorial content, the son of the media mogul Rupert Murdoch, James Murdoch, has withdrawn from the board of the US media company News Corp. The reason for his resignation was “disagreement over certain editorial content published in the company’s news media and other strategic decisions,” said a letter from the 47-year-old published by the SEC on Friday (local time).
The News Corp group includes the “Wall Street Journal”, the “New York Post” and the British tabloid “The Sun”. James Murdoch had previously distinguished himself from the right-wing conservative positions of some News Corp media. In January, the 47-year-old criticized that the devastating forest fires in Australia denied climate change in some of the media. His father, Rupert Murdoch, who was also politically influential, had declared in the past not to employ any deniers of climate change, but had described himself as a “climate change skeptic”.
Politically, the ways of father and son are said to have separated in the end. Rupert Murdoch is considered an important supporter of the Republican Party of US President Donald Trump. James Murdoch, on the other hand, is said to have donated several hundred thousand dollars for the election campaign of Trump’s challenger Joe Biden from the opposition candidates.
