San Salvador, Jul 31 (EFE) .- The Spanish coach Juan Cortés signed for the Salvadoran Alliance club for a year after leaving 11 Deportivo and to try to bring the club from the capital of El Salvador to the title again, reported on Friday the equipment.
“Alianza Fútbol Club reports that it has reached an agreement with Juan Cortés (Spain) to be appointed as the new technical director of the first team for the next two short tournaments (one year),” the club published in a statement.
The coach from Jaen terminated his contract as head of 11 Deportivo, a team that he saved from relegation first and later placed him the leader of the Closing Tournament.
Cortés added 20 points in 11 games, with a balance of 6 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses with 11 Deportivo.
11 Deportivo was declared champion of the Clausura 2020 tournament, which was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Salvadoran football authorities backed down on this decision.
This is the third team in El Salvador led by Cortés, after Independiente and 11 Deportivo.
This was not the first experience abroad for Cortés, because he was previously in the Houston Dynamo Franquicia Monterrey and the Cinco Estrellas, of the third division of Mexico, as well as and in the Samut Sakhon and Prakhan, both of the second division of Thailand.
Cortés started his career at the Peña Deportiva Jiennense, of the Andalusian first division and later coached Real Jaén CF, of the Spanish national league.
The resumption of the season in El Salvador remains paralyzed due to delays in de-escalation following the rebound in COVID-19 cases.
