It’s the first official competition post-confinement in France. One month from Tour de France 2020, Chris Froome, Egan Bernal, Thibaut Pinot, Romain Bardet and the French champion Warren Barguil will be from the Route d’Occitanie, Saturday August 1. In total, 21 teams will start the first 187 km stage in Saint-Affrique to reach Cazoul-les-Béziers (Hérault).
A recovery in a very particular climate. The teams will live almost in autarky for four days and limit contact with the outside as much as possible.
Prohibition to approach runners
No contact will be possible with the public. At departures and arrivals, spectators will be carefully kept away. Team buses will be surrounded by barriers. It will then be forbidden to approach, take selfies, ask for autographs, and even unthinkable to retrieve a can. The same goes for the press: relations with the runners will be limited to a minimum and only at a good distance, with a mask.
During the race, the mask will be compulsory for journalists, followers and organizers. For their part, the runners will wear it from the descent of the bus to the starting line, they will then slip it into their jersey pocket to start the race.
Mandatory test above all
