Almería, Aug 2 (EFE) .- A North African immigrant who was in the water and the sole occupant of a boat has been rescued this afternoon by Maritime Rescue on the coast of Cabo de Gata (Almería).
As reported to Efe Salvamento Marítimo, the ship “Stella Island” contacted this afternoon the Coordinating Center for Maritime Salvage in Almería and reported that 44 miles southeast of Cabo de Gata had sighted a small boat, the occupant of which asked for help.
Maritime Rescue informed the ship to stay in the area until one of its rescue vessels, the “Salvamar Spica”, arrived in the area and when it was arriving, the “Stella Island” alerted that the occupant of the boat was already in water.
The “Salvamar Spica” rescued the immigrant, a Maghrebi male in apparent good health, who confirmed himself to be the sole occupant of the boat, and set out for the port of Almería, where he will arrive at around 20.40 hours.
