Christmas, Black Friday, Cyber Monday… Consumer purchases are on the increase and so are the risks of fraud. In its 2019 activity report, the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF), details the control operations – also called OFA for End of Year Operation – implemented during these major commercial meetings. In the eyes of investigators, three things: accurate and loyal information to consumers, consumer safety and the proper functioning of the market.
Vigilance is essential since Black Friday – the last Friday in November and considered the starting point for Christmas shopping – Cyber Monday – the Monday following the Black Friday weekend – have become international trade events, carried in particular through internet sales. Even the online banks participated this year… Last year, the French planned to spend on average 233 euros on the occasion of Black Friday.
