three police bikers injured during a traffic check, a driver arrested

The driver of a scooter was arrested Saturday, August 1 in Montpellier (Hérault) after injuring three police motorcyclists during a road check, reports France Blue Hérault.

At around 10 a.m., the driver of the two-wheeler was checked at 103 km / hour instead of 50 km / hour. He first pretended to slow down as the police approached and then, about 15 meters from the bikers, he accelerated and charged at them, according to the police. He then violently collided with two police officers, injuring a third in the process.

One of the police officers has pain in his hand, the other in his knee and the third, the most seriously injured, is awaiting results concerning his legs and back. The latter was hit full face by the scooter, a 550 cubic centimeters.

“Peacekeepers are not bowling”

The perpetrator, a 25-year-old man, was also injured. He was arrested and taken into custody. He drove without a driver’s license or insurance.

For the director of the departmental direction of public security (DDSP), Yannick Blouin, this new case of violence against the police is not admissible: “My men, the peacekeepers are not bowling”.
