See the differences side by side
With the new T7, a lot will change for VW bus fans. In the future, the practical box will be on the MQB general-purpose platform, which is also designed for plug-in hybridization. However, there should not be a purely electrical variant of the T7. This will be the case from 2022 I.D. Buzz responsible.
The most recent Erlkönig pictures show Volkswagen’s new bus together with its predecessor, the T6.1. Since he hardly ever walks with camouflage, you can now clearly see what will be offered optically.
Even more T7 Hero Kings
In the front, the headlights and grill remind of the ID.3. At the rear, the significantly longer rear lights and the relatively large roof spoiler stand out. Also interesting: The front looks much rounder and above all longer than before. But it also has to be more pure. Auxiliary units for various assistance systems and batteries for the 48-volt electrical system, for example. In the interior we expect digital instruments and the latest VW infotainment.
We assume that the T7 will also receive the plug-in hybrid drive from the current VW GTE models in addition to some petrol and diesel engines. Here, a 1.4-liter turbo gasoline engine in conjunction with an electric motor provides 218 hp of system power. The electrical ranges are around 50 kilometers.
Oddly enough, the T6.1 could live on as a Transporter and California, because the Modular Transverse Toolkit (MQB) must have a lot of spring in terms of payload compared to the old body.
The new photos, which show the T7 almost camouflaged, indicate that the car is at the end of its development cycle. We assume that Volkswagen will present the bus in 2020. In 2021 it should be at the dealer.
