Beach volleyball Olympic champion Kira Walkenhorst (29) stands with her new partner Anna-Lena Grüne at the qualification tournament for the German championships in one of the two finals. Due to an injury-related cancellation by their opponents Antonia Stautz and Leonie Welsch, the newly formed duo in Düsseldorf won the last game of the group phase without a fight and is thus the winner in group A.
On Friday Walkenhorst / Greens had won 2-1 in the two duels with Lena and Sarah Overländer as well as Svenja Müller and Sarah Schulz. In the final game, the duo will meet Viktoria Bieneck and Julika Hoffmann, who finished second in Group B, on Saturday (3:45 p.m. LIVE on TV on SPORT1).
If Walkenhorst / Greens decide the duel for themselves, they are sure to be qualified for the German championships in Timmendorfer Strand (3 to 6 September). If they lose, they still have the chance to get a ticket for the DM on Sunday in the match for third place (14.55 in the LIVESTREAM).
In the second final game Larissa Claassen / Nina Interwies and Müller / Schulz face off. Since the top three teams will receive a ticket to the German championships, there will be no final winner at the tournament in Düsseldorf.
