The automotive market is in good shape in France and the registration figures confirm it. The augmented data expert AAA DATA recorded 178,981 registrations in July, which is more than in July 2019 which had 172,225 registrations. This 4% increase can be explained “by the incentive measures initiated since the deconfinement”, specifies the expert’s press release. In fact, the government granted 200,000 conversion bonuses until the end of July and a new system came into force on August 3.

“Since the beginning of the year, 894,779 registrations have been made” further specifies AAA DATA, against 1,338,667 last year. Individuals are the main buyers of vehicles, at a higher level before the crisis. Three French brands are the most popular: Renault, Peugeot and Citroën. Toyota and Dacia follow them closely. In detail, Renault recorded 33,482 new registrations in July, nearly 10,000 more than in July 2019 (+ 41%). Peugeot has registered 32,737 new vehicles, an increase of 6% compared to last year (30,807 registrations), but it loses one place in the ranking. Citroën, finally, recorded 15,835 sales, a decrease of 20% compared to last year.
