This Monday, Brazil registered 317 new deaths due to the covid-19, which brings the total number of deaths from the disease in the country to 142,058, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
The number represents the 2nd business day with fewer coronavirus deaths in the country since May 4, when 277 deaths were registered. On Monday of the October 7 holiday, the number was lower than today (310 deaths). Records of contamination and death by covid-19 plummet on weekends and holidays. Data from the Ministry of Health indicate that Sundays and Mondays are the days with fewer notifications of new victims. The difference, according to technicians of the portfolio, is due to the duty regime in health centers and laboratories, which delays the transfer of information.
In the last 24 hours, 13,155 new cases of the disease caused by the coronavirus were also reported, with the total of confirmed infections in the country reaching 4,745,464. The daily number is the lowest recorded since June 1, when 12,247 new cases were reported.
Brazil remains the third country most affected by the pandemic in terms of the number of contaminated, according to a count by Johns Hopkins University. It is behind the United States and India, which occupy the first and second positions, respectively. However, in relation to the total number of deaths, the country remains in the second position.
