The City of Rio towed 358 vehicles over the weekend for non-compliance with the decree prohibiting parking in the stretch from Leme to Pontal, on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
The measure aims to combat agglomerations because of the new coronavirus pandemic.
The use of waterfront spaces on weekends is only allowed for residents, users of special spaces and tourists staying in hotels in the region.
Residents must show the Rio Rotativo System Resident Card on the vehicle panel, issued by CET-Rio (Traffic Engineering Company) or proof of residence.
Users of special places (elderly and people with disabilities) must present the mandatory beneficiary card. And, when checking in at the hotel, the guest will receive a card with an expiration date equivalent to the stay, which should be displayed on the vehicle panel.
The Municipality advises that, before going to the municipal deposits, the citizen should consult if the vehicle was removed due to irregular parking by the municipal administration on the website of Seop (Municipal Public Order Secretariat).
“Regarding the payment of towing fees, to avoid fraud, it must be carried out directly at ATMs, banks and in essential partner establishments, such as supermarkets and pharmacies, not being executed via the internet or applications,” he informed.
