Children are 44% less likely to contract covid-19 than adults, according to an analysis led by the president of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, UK.

“In this systematic review and meta-analysis, including 32 studies, children and adolescents under the age of 20 were 44% less likely to have secondary infection with the new coronavirus, compared to adults aged 20 and over,” the analysis showed.

“There is preliminary evidence that those under 10 to 14 years of age are less susceptible to infection than adults, with adolescents appearing to have similar susceptibility to adults.”

The analysis was led by Russell Viner, president of the Royal College.
