Portugal recorded, in the last 24 hours, 884 new cases of covid-19 and 8 more deaths, according to data from the epidemiological bulletin of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), released this Saturday (September 26). Since the pandemic began in the country in March, 72 939 positive cases of the disease and 1944 deaths have been confirmed.
The number of hospitalizations has decreased in the last 24 hours. There are now 615 hospitalized patients (nine fewer than yesterday), of which 85 are in intensive care units (minus one).
According to the report by the Directorate-General for Health, 377 people recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the number of patients who recovered to 47 380.
Deaths were registered in the regions of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (6), Norte (1) and Centro (1).
Lisbon and Tagus Valley was the area with the most new cases (472, in a total of 37 376), followed by the North (292, 26 161), Centro (62, 5947), Algarve (more 30 cases, 1543) and Alentejo now has 20 more cases (1432 in accumulated total since March).
The Azores reported five more cases and Madeira three.
