Coach Cuca said on Sunday that Santos could have beaten Botafogo. The game ended in a goalless draw at the Nilton Santos stadium, for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship.
Cuca said his team was superior in several aspects of the game and elected goalkeeper Gatito Fernández as the best player in Botafogo. The coach also analyzed the evolution of the team compared to previous matches.
– Game very well played on our part. Very controlled game, with possession of the ball, with interesting, beautiful movements, involving the opponent and creating many chances, both in the first and second half. There were more than 20. We left sadly for leaving two points here – said Cuca.
– It was a game to win. We are comforted by the game we played. We played a bad game against Internacional, in the others we had more possession and at least equality with the opponents. We played a lot, missed opportunities and Gatito was the best for nothing. Very good performance, very bad result – amended.

Cuca also spoke about the casting rotation at Santos. Five of Peixe’s next six games are away from home. The sequence includes duels of the Brazilian Championship and Libertadores, with flights outside Brazil.
Concerned about the risk of injuries, Cuca reinforced his expectation of recovering football from important players in the squad, such as Carlos Sánchez, and emphasized his bet on the base in this sequence of games.
– We have cast and we have been shooting so as not to lose anyone. I’ve been using all the boys, four or five per game. A victory would make them bulge and gain confidence. We will work, correct the wrong and value the right. It’s time to think about recovering players. Soon he will have a trip to Ecuador, with a decisive game – he concluded.
