Egas Moniz Hospital services closed due to Covid-19 outbreak – Observer

The Hospital de Egas Moniz closed, last Tuesday, the Radiology and Neurradiology Services. At issue is the number of positive cases for the new coronavirus among health professionals, which left the service without technicians to perform the tests.

The information was confirmed to the Observer by sources at the hospital. Many of the exams are being cleared.

The Observer also learned that cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were reported in Internal Medicine patients.

The Observer contacted the board of directors of the hospital, the Regional Health Administration of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and the Ministry of Health, but none of the entities has provided, so far, clarifications on the situation.

At the end of June, an outbreak had been recorded in the hospital’s Internal Medicine Service with at least six patients and 11 infected health professionals.
