Every day we receive a message on WhatsApp that comes with some visual content: good morning image, video talking about politics and so on. All of these files are thrown into folders by media: by photo, by video, etc., creating a limbo between what is relevant and what could be discarded. The good news is that WhatsApp is finally bringing a solution.
As of this Wednesday (30th), the app offers an update – in the beta version 22.214.171.124 for Android – that promises to remodel the section “Data usage and storage”, which is in the WhatsApp settings.
For now, it is only available to those who are registered as a beta tester for WhatsApp on Google Play, according to WABetainfo, a site that usually advances the app’s news. New features usually go to these users first and then are sent to the general public, both for Android and for iOS.
The expectation is that the feature in tests will bring more clarity and organization to the media data downloaded on your device. With the change, there will be a first section that will detail the space occupied by the media files on your cell phone. The second section, on the other hand, will help users to review the media, so that they can delete the unnecessary ones more easily.
It will be possible to classify files into newer, older, and by size, good news for those who do not have as much internal storage space on the smartphone. Finally, at the bottom of the section, media files by chat will be listed.
