With seven players infected with covid-19, the Flamengo requested the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) to postpone the match against the Palm Trees, which is scheduled for this Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Allianz Parque.
The information was initially published by globoesporte.com, and confirmed by the club after the victory against Barcelona de Guayaquil, through the FlaTV broadcast, this Tuesday. The red-black board of directors drafted a document, signed by Vice President Rodrigo Dunshee de Abranches, in which he alleges technical damage due to the infected.
In addition, according to the publication, the document highlights the risk of new cases appearing in the red-black squad, as the delegation stayed together for a week in Ecuador to dispute the games against Independiente Del Valle and Barcelona de Guayaquil for the Copa Libertadores.
The contaminated players are Isla, Matheuzinho, Filipe Luís, Diego, Vitinho, Bruno Henrique and Michael. The list also includes doctor Márcio Tanure and director Juan.
Through publication in his profile on social networks, Palmeiras was against the postponement of the match, claiming that the competition protocol contemplates a situation of this type.
“Palmeiras is against postponing the game next Sunday. The protocol adopted for the competition contemplates situations of this type. There is, therefore, no reason why the game does not happen.”, Claimed the club in a publication signed by President Maurício Galiotte.
The duel against Palmeiras will be valid for the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship. At the moment, Flamengo appears in the sixth place of the competition with 17 points added. Verdão is fourth with 18.
