The FPF (São Paulo Football Federation) released a note repudiating Flamengo’s attempt to suspend today’s “game of discord” against Palmeiras, which ended in a 1-1 draw at Allianz Parque.
For the federation, the team from Rio de Janeiro made an “arrogant articulation” and did not follow the health protocol of the Brazilian Championship.
In a last-minute turnaround, the Superior Labor Court (TST) accepted a request from CBF and reversed decisions of the Regional Labor Court of Rio de Janeiro (TRT-RJ) that had decreed the postponement of the game after an outbreak of covid-19 infect 19 Flamengo players.
“The São Paulo Football Federation is publicly expressing its repudiation of the attempt to suspend today’s match, between Palmeiras and Flamengo, for the Brazilian Championship. The competition has a health protocol, approved by public authorities and by all participating clubs, which must be respected “, says the FPF.
“It causes repulsion to the old and backward practice of using a union to defend individual and individual interests. It is everyone’s obligation to respect the will of the great majority of clubs. Thus, the FPF endorses and supports the position of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, of all other clubs and CBF in the face of this arrogant articulation, which only harms football “, he adds.
