A rescue at sea touched the Italians this weekend. Military officer Aurelio Visalli, 40, second head of the Coast Guard in Milazzo, Sicily, drowned on Saturday (26) after saving two people in his area.
The body of the military was located by the Coast Guard itself on Sunday morning (27), after intense searches, and now an investigation has been opened to verify that the boat used by him and his companions was equipped with all the necessary safety items.
Visalli saved a 15-year-old teenager and another person, whose age was not revealed. Italy’s defense minister, Lorenzo Guerini, offered condolences “to the family and the Coast Guard” at this difficult time.
“He died to save the lives of two bathers in difficulty in Milazzo. We remember him and all the people who put his commitment and his life at the service of citizens and institutions,” added Guerini. .
