John Cena to be Peacemaker in series derived from The Suicide Squad

A HBO Max ordered eight episodes of a series of the Peacemaker, character of John Cena in The Suicide Squad.

A plot of Peacemaker must address the origin story of the character, which will be presented to the audience in the film. In the comics, the Peacemaker is a hero who wants to achieve peace at any cost – even if he has to kill some people to achieve it.

The series will have a script by James Gunn in all episodes, and some of the episodes will be directed by him. Gunn will also serve as an executive producer alongside Peter Safran, who is also in the production of The Suicide Squad. John Cena will reprise the role and serve as executive co-producer.

The spin-off is scheduled for production in early 2021, before Gunn starts working on the next film Guardians of the Galaxy.

This is not the only film that already has a confirmed derived series: the Batman Matt Reeves will have a police spin-off – learn more.

The Suicide Squad is scheduled to debut on August 5, 2021 in Brazil.
