Maintaining the reinforced structure is the major challenge for the SUS network | Supplements

Public hospitals now face the challenge of maintaining the structure incorporated since the beginning of the year to improve service to the population. They are about 2,500 of the 6,200 active hospital establishments in the country, but unlike the majority, which make up the private network and serve only 22% of the population, are responsible for the health of all Brazilians. In the health crisis, new ICU beds, magnetic resonance equipment, mechanical respirators, hemodialysis devices and personnel reinforcement were added. The inputs helped to remove the network integrated to the Unified Health System (SUS) from a precarious trajectory.
