Manchester United took a cold shower in anticipation of their fans in the Premier League debut. After finishing 2019/20 with an unbeaten run of 14 games, Ole Gunnas Solskjaer’s team started the 2020/21 edition with a 3-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday. Zaha scored two goals for the visitors, who opened the scoring with Townsend. Rookie Van de Beek scored for the hosts.
In this way, the Manchester club has zero point in the table of the English Championship, being in 15th place, with a negative balance of two goals. United did not enter the field in the first round as they reached the semifinals of the Europa League, gaining more rest time. Crystal Palace reached six points in two games, moving up to second place.

The visitors needed just seven minutes to open the scoring with Townsend, who took advantage of United’s defense and arrived to complete Schlupp’s cross. From there, Crystal Palace became more comfortable in its strategy, forcing United to go ahead, but without being able to create good chances.
In the final stage, coach Solskjaer put Greenwood in place of Daniel James, looking for more offensive volume. Shortly afterwards, he promoted Van de Beek – the club’s main reinforcement for the 2020/21 season, in place of Pogba. But Crystal Palace gained the opportunity to expand after a few minutes, after referee Martin Atkinson scored a penalty for a touch of the ball on Lindelof’s arm – with much complaints and VAR verification.

Jordan Ayew went into the box, and De Gea jumped in to defend. However, the referee ordered the collection to be made again, claiming that the goalkeeper came forward with both feet. Despite protests from United athletes, Zaha went for the shot and converted, putting the score 2-0 on 29.
Six minutes later, the hosts returned to the match in a bid of opportunism by Van de Beek, who took advantage in the area and hit first: 2 to 1. However, with five minutes left, Zaha took advantage of Lindelof’s new fool and scored the third of the visitors.
