The Minister of Health, Marta Temido assured this Tuesday that she will not give up the fight against the pandemic of the new coronavirus: “I cannot, it would be cowardice. However, I am available to leave when the Portuguese understand that this is the moment ”, he stressed.
Marta Temido, in an interview on the ‘Dia de Cristina’ program, on TVI, confessed to being “very tired” but said that giving up is not an option for her.
As a balance of this pandemic time, and of its evolution, the minister recalled the weight of the “days of great psychological pressure”, in which the “spirit of self-denial” of Health professionals who did not measure efforts to combat Covid was evidenced. -19, being that “nobody was prepared for a test of this type and with duration that we were unable to know”.
For Marta Temido, during this semester “we made it better to understand the virus. We use masks, alcohol-gel, we don’t hug. The medical response has learned that medications can help and that there are better forms of ventilation than others. It was six months of learning a completely new phenomenon ”.
As for the future, the minister did not hide that, at least the next six months “will be very difficult and demanding for everyone”. However, he hopes that, “in the middle of 2021, we will have the vaccine in which Europeans are investing”.
Despite the adversities, “we have to remain confident. We have to resist and, when we feel like hugging, we have to look into the eyes ”. For you, the best defense, “is in the hands of each of us. [É preciso] to separate until we can hug again]”.
