After revealing the first details in the beginning of the month, a Renault and its subsidiary Dacia presented the new generation of models Sandero, Logan e Sandero Stepway in Europe this Tuesday, 29. Confirming the expectation, the French group promoted a complete change in the family of compacts, which have evolved in every way.
Now that they are built on the CMF platform, the same as the Clio platform, the three models have benefited from technical advances that have enabled them to offer more safety and a more efficient mechanical assembly that now has three-cylinder aspirated and turbo propellers and a new CVT gearbox . Dacia, on the other hand, abandoned diesel engines, a trend in the Old Continent.
Check out the news:
The compact hatch is the most successful of the family, but it is the least surprising. According to Dacia, the Sandero is now 1 cm lower but preserving a distance of 13.3 cm from the ground. The model now has LED lights that increased the beam by 37% in length and 9% in width.
The automaker points out that the Sandero is now more ergonomic and with a better quality finish. The trunk now offers 328 liters of capacity and has a height adjustable floor. In Europe, the model offers height and depth adjustment of the steering wheel and has a shorter shift lever. The steering, in turn, is assisted electrically, with 36% less effort required in maneuvers.
The Stepway has a height of 1.74 cm from the ground thanks to the larger diameter tires. The model also has as a novelty the modular roof bars, which can be adjusted to carry up to 80 kg on the roof.
Logan is clearly the model that has evolved the most. From an unlit sedan, the new car is more elegant and proportional.
Among the available equipment are air conditioning with digital panel, remote trunk opening, electric parking brake, parking camera, front and rear distance sensors and automatic cleaners. Dacia also promises to offer sunroof in 2021.
Renault says the models will feature three multimedia centers, Media Control, Media Display and Media Nav. The first, however, is a smartphone holder that can be connected via Bluetooh or USB.
The CMF platform provided greater body rigidity that reinforced safety in impacts. In Europe, all three are offered with six standard airbags, belt load limiters, pre-tensioners and an emergency call system.
The brand also starts to list active safety systems such as emergency braking assistant, blind spot warning, parking assistant and ramp start.
Engines and gearboxes
As it was imagined, Dacia adopted a new family of more efficient engines with 1.0 liter and three cylinders. The SCe 65, available for the Sandero and Logan, is associated with a five-speed manual transmission while the TCe90, turbo, can be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission or CVT. The brand has not provided details on performance and consumption to date.
In addition to them, Dacia also included a bi-fuel version that uses gasoline or LPG gas. All engines can also operate with a Start-Stop system.
The Sandero is almost 3 cm longer, 11 cm wider and almost 4 cm lower than the Brazilian model. The trunk, in turn, gained 8 liters compared to our hatch, a similar result in the case of Stepway.
Logan borders 4.4 meters in length, or 5 cm longer than the national model. The height is almost 3 cm less compared to the 2nd generation. The trunk can carry up to 528 liters of luggage, 18 more than the Brazilian sedan. Renault says the car now has a longer wheelbase, but did not provide figures.
The new models are expected to reach several European markets in the coming weeks and Logan will be sold mainly in Eastern Europe as well as Spain and Morocco.
