According to the Ministry of Economy, in the first 15 days of September, 218,679 unemployment insurance claims were registered across the country. The number represents an 11.6% drop compared to the last half of August, when there were 247,445 requests.
The survey shows that the states with the highest number of requirements were: São Paulo (65,358), Minas Gerais (24,129) and Rio de Janeiro (17,420). Those with the fewest requests were: Roraima (348), Acre (441) and Amapá (476).
From January to September 15, 5,203,736 applications for unemployment insurance were registered. The number represents an increase of 6.7% compared to the accumulated in the same period of 2019 (4,876,556).
Of the total requirements in 2020, 55.9% (2,909,114) were made through the internet. In the same period of 2019, only 1.6% of orders (80,325) were online.
Of the total orders placed in the first half of the month, 137,530 (62.9%) were placed via the web, either through the gov.br portal or through the Digital Work Portfolio.
Acre was the location with the highest percentage of requests via the web, 96.4% of the total. In contrast, Mato Grosso do Sul had only 34.5% of online requests.
According to the government, the regional labor superintendencies reinforced the actions to guarantee non-face-to-face service to citizens during the period of the covid-19 pandemic.
