The file with the progress made on the PlayStation 4 version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon will not be compatible with the PlayStation 5 version, was unequivocally confirmed this afternoon by the producer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio.
This afternoon the work had already been in the news when it was revealed that the launch day for the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S | X versions had been set and that the PlayStation 5 version will hit the market in March, 2021.
Now, in the message you can read at the end of this news, it is confirmed that “to clarify, the owners of the physical version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS4 can also use the original disc to upgrade to the PS5 version when it hits the market on the 2nd March, 2021 ”.
However, in the second part it is added that “the information with the recorded progress will not be transferable between the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game”. In practice, this means that, although the update is free, they will have to start the adventure from scratch.
Remember that thanks to Xbox Smart Delivery technology, players who purchase the Xbox One version of the work will be entitled to upgrade to the Xbox Series version at no additional cost. However, in the case of Microsoft consoles, the progress made will not be lost between generations of consoles, as it is confirmed that there will be cross-save.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be published on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series S | X on November 10th. On March 2, 2021, it will be the turn of PlayStation 5 players to start experiencing the work.
