The franchise Super Mario Bros. turned 35 and, to celebrate, we here at NerdBunker we did a series of polls on our Instagram to help you choose the best Mario game ever!
The voting started with eight games separated into four groups, and followers voted for their favorite.
We start with:
- Super Mario Bros. (1985)
- Super Mario World (1990)
- Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island (1995)
- Super Mario 64 (1996)
- Super Mario Sunshine (2002)
- Super Mario Galaxy (2007)
- Super Mario Maker (2015)
- Super Mario Odyssey (2017)
All victories in the first round were overwhelming, with Super Mario World winning the first game of the character with more than 14 thousand votes, which corresponded to 90%. Super Mario 64 e Super Mario Galaxy also beat their opponents, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island e Super Mario Sunshine respectively, with more than 80% of the votes.
The fiercest dispute of the first vote was that of the two most recent games, but it still ended with an expressive victory – Super Mario Odyssey had over 8,700 votes, representing 68% of the followers who voted – and went on to the next stage.
The second round pitted the winners against each other, and the results were more balanced. Super Mario World won the Super Mario 64 with the preference of 71% of followers, and, among Super Mario Galaxy e Super Mario Odyssey, the Nintendo Switch game was chosen as the favorite with 58% of the votes.
With just two games, it was time for the grand final. There were more than 9 thousand votes among Super Mario World e Super Mario Odyssey, but the 1990 classic came out victorious with a very big advantage: there were 7,216 votes against 1,944, representing 79% of the crowd’s preference.
