Pilot game with the possibility of being held in the Azores
Santa Clara’s game with Gil Vicente, which takes place this Saturday in Ponta Delgada, could be the first test of the public’s return to professional football in Portugal.
The League of Clubs will take advantage of the possibility created by the Regional Health Authority, an organ with autonomy in the Azores on public health issues, which allows public assistance in sporting events in the archipelago, with a limit of 10 percent of the maximum capacity of the Stadium. In this way, the presence of a thousand fans in the Santa Clara game against Gil Vicente can be authorized.
Pedro Proença, president of the League of Clubs, said this Saturday that the clubs expressed “frustration” at the resistance of the health authorities in rehearsing the return of the public to the stadiums.
“I feel that this feeling is starting to grow. Clubs feel a disenchantment of not having an open spirit in the Government and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) so that football is not discriminated against”, stressed Pedro Proença, on the sidelines of the opening of the fifth edition of the Graduate Program in Organization and Management in Professional Football.
