Seniors over 60 will be able to pass the UFMG vaccine test

Doses will continue to be applied to frontline professionals for the new coronavirus, however the age range has been expanded

Starting next week, the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) will expand the participation of volunteers for testing with the vaccine developed by the Chinese company Sinovac Biotec to fight the new coronavirus (Covid-19) in Belo Horizonte.

Now, seniors between 60 and 80 years old who work on the front line to fight the disease will also be able to participate. Before vaccines were only for those between 18 and 59 years old with the same criteria of being a health professional on the front line.

The decision was made on Thursday (24) by the UFMG Research Ethics Committee. The goal is to expand studies in a different audience, since the elderly are considered at risk and even if they have comorbidities they can be tested, as long as the diseases are controlled and are released by medical evaluation.

Whoever has the profile and wants to participate in the research can contact by phone: (31) 97171-2657.
