In June, it was announced that former “American Idol” winner Kelly Clarkson (38) and her husband Brandon Blackstock (43) were to divorce after seven years of marriage.
– What I’m in right now is difficult, because it involves more than just my own heart. It concerns many small hearts. We have four children, Clarkson said when she premiered on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” on NBC earlier this month after a six-month break.
Kelly Clarkson is divorcing
Five years after she won American Idol, the artist began working with Starstruck Management Group. They are led by father-in-law Narvel Blackstock, who is now suing Clarkson for unpaid bills.
The management claims that the artist owes them 1.4 million dollars, which is equivalent to a little over 13.2 million kroner. The complaint is that Clarkson has not paid enough after the work on “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and the job in “The Voice” earlier this year, writes Variety.
The company also claims that the artist will owe at least 5.4 million dollars when the year is over, which is equivalent to 51 million kroner.
The lawsuit states that Clarkson and Starstruck do not have a written agreement, but that the framework must have been determined during an oral agreement in 2007. The artist must have approved this agreement during a telephone conversation.
Since then, the company has been paid 15 percent of what Clarkson earned.
– Over a period of about 13 years, Starstruck has shaped Clarkson into a superstar. The company has been essential in building her up to the success she has had, such as winning Grammys, nominations, hit albums and her own TV show. Despite our hard work, she has decided not to pay us what is in the contract, it is stated in the lawsuit.
