Almost a year and a half after the previous match, handball star Katrine Lunde (40) is ready for a comeback against Bietigheim in the Champions League.
Vipers Kristiansand coach Ole Gustav Gjekstad confirms to NTB that this is the plan, and that Lunde is targeted for games in Germany on Saturday.
The Vipers had their Champions League match against FTC Hungaria postponed last weekend. This happened after two players of the opponent developed a positive covid-19 infection. Vipers started the Champions League with an away win 27-26 over Crimea Ljubljana.
Bietigheim seems to be the weakest team in the pool. The Germans have lost their first two games and already have a minus 16 goal difference.
Vipers play cup match against Randesund on Wednesday without Lunde in the squad.

The goalkeeper suffered a serious knee injury in May 2019 in the Champions League final in Budapest. She has had a long way back and also managed to turn 40 on the road.
Tuesday is exactly 500 days since she played top-level matches.
– I give when I want to give, and I do not have it now. Age is no obstacle as long as you are good enough and exercise enough. In addition, I have made it with the family, so it’s okay to play handball and be away so much. I think the years go by gradually, but I still feel like a little youth, Lunde told NTB earlier this year.
Contract until 2023
Her contract with the Vipers runs until the summer of 2023.
Lunde has been selected in the Norwegian national team squad for the Golden League tournament in Denmark next week. A final decision about her participation there will probably be made during the weekend.
