This is what the Molde coach says before the fateful match

– We have gone through three rounds in Europe. The same as Ferencváros. We have not lost an away match in Europe, yet. We will be ready and will do the best we can. We have self-confidence. It is a play-off match for both teams and we know what is at stake. We will go for it, says Molde coach Erling Moe at a press conference before tonight’s match.

Molde is one match away from becoming the first Norwegian team in the Champions League since the 2007/2008 season.

But it will by no means be easy against Tokmac Nguens Ferencváros.

The Champions League dream is alive – Molde hit back hard

Molde will have to score in Hungary if they are to have the opportunity to qualify for the Champions League.

The first match in Molde ended 3-3 after the Moldans were first below 2-0.

It should also be mentioned that it was a big referee controversy that came into focus when Ferencváros got a penalty kick after a hand situation just before the end.

– We showed good character when we came back in the previous match. When we got below 0-2 we could easily collapse, and they could get another goal. We had a bit of mixed feelings after the match. We were happy, but also disappointed with our defensive game. We are really looking forward to the match tonight, says Molde player Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

Empty grandstands are no problem

As with most other matches, the match in Hungary between Ferencváros and Molde will also be played for empty stands. Molde has few problems with that.

Insane sums at stake for Molde: Can earn more annual budgets by making it to the Champions League

– We are used to playing for empty stands. We have played a number of matches now where we have not had spectators present at the match. Of course, this is not how we want it to be.

– It is quite different when there are 20,000 in the stands and you know the atmosphere. When you play at home you miss it the most, but when you play away it’s fine. There is no problem, says Moe.

– We have players who really want this

Molde has two straight losses in the Eliteserien, most recently at home against Sandefjord, and will have to go up several notches if the hope of Champions League games is to become a reality.

– We have a team that is good with the ball. I think we have players who really want this. They want to lay down the meters they have to. We are good in the last third when we get things the way we want.

– I do not want to compare the teams. They have their strengths and we have our strengths. Hopefully we can be the best team when we show our strengths. That’s the most important thing. Ferencváros is a very good team that has done very well in previous games. Hopefully the best team wins, the Molde coach concludes.
