The Union of employees of football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, Sindeclubes, filed on Monday a request to withdraw from the public civil action filed last Saturday asking for the match between Palmeiras and Flamengo, 12th round of the Brasileirão, to be suspended – the game took place on Sunday and ended in a 1-1 draw. The union alleges that the action lost its object, which was the postponement of the confrontation.

Chaired by José Pinheiro dos Santos, a Flamengo security officer, the union asked on Saturday for the match to be postponed, alleging the health risk of everyone involved in the event due to the outbreak of coronavirus contamination in the red-black football department.
In contact with give, Henrique da Silva Fragoso, a lawyer for Sindeclubes, said that the organization will introduce “pertinent measures” in the case of new outbreaks in football clubs in Rio de Janeiro, including Volta Redonda, which competes in the C series. Regional Labor Court (TRT) informed the extinction of the action of the Rio Athletes Union (Saferj) for the same reason: loss of object.
Flamengo keeps schedule
As it understands that the process is extinct, Flamengo maintains the training schedule and has activity scheduled for 16h (from Brasília) this Monday, at Ninho do Urubu. Before, the players will be submitted to Conmebol’s exams, already looking for the fourth match, against Independiente del Valle, for the fifth round of Libertadores Group A. The Ecuadorians reported on this second four cases of contaminated athletes.
The club understands that the decision of the Superior Labor Court (TST), which determined the game against Palmeiras, causes all previous injunctions to lose their value. On Sunday, the day of the game, the TRT gave the order for the entire football department of Flamengo to comply with a 15-day quarantine, therefore being prohibited from “carrying out matches, training or travel” during this period.
