‘We faced Covid-19 without stopping the city’, says Ibaneis

The governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha, gave an interview to TV Record on Monday morning (28). In the DF no Ar program, the head of the local Executive took stock of the actions to combat the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus (Covid-19).

Ibaneis commented on the return to school, and said that for the public network the expectation is for classroom classes only in 2021.

The works were part of the interview. The Governor recalled that of the Recanto das Emas viaduct, which had the bid published by the Federal District’s Highway Department (DER-DF) on Friday (25).

Competition notice 004/2020 will choose the company that will carry out the construction work for the Recanto das Emas viaduct. At the site, where 60 thousand vehicles travel daily, the road system at the junction of the city with the DF-001 will be readjusted. The estimated amount for the total execution of the services is R $ 37.5 million, coming from resources of Caixa Econômica Federal.

The governor recalled that Itapoã will also win a viaduct, with delivery scheduled for 2022. Another example mentioned was the Taguatinga Tunnel.

“This is one of the most important road works for the population of DF. We have over a million people who will benefit from it. It is a work that makes us very happy, ”said the governor.

A recurring and extremely important topic, health was the first subject of the interview with the television channel. Ibaneis Rocha spoke about the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus (Covid-19) and listed some actions taken by the government to face the virus.

Ibaneis Rocha recalled that the field hospitals will remain as a legacy for the post-pandemic period and that, with the drop in the number of cases of the disease in DF, the beds for facing Covid-19 have been demobilized. “We take actions here very quickly, making forced social isolation, creating ICU beds, and we serve everyone. We have no case of people who were not attended to ”, he recalled.

Housing construction and urbanization actions were also on the agenda. The governor recalled that he has invested in infrastructure in Paranoá Park, which did not exist before. He also pointed out that, in the case of Itapoã Parque, the current management rethought the project and is building the housing sector thinking of all the necessary infrastructure for public facilities, such as those destined for schools and health units. “We are building a school and a Basic Health Unit [UBS] in Paranoá; and, in Itapoã, works to serve 12 thousand families, already with all the infrastructure ”, he highlighted.

Southern Commercial Sector (SCS)

An important region of the Federal District, the Southern Commercial Sector (SCS) was also discussed during the interview. The governor was asked about the intention to allow housing on site and also about the problem of parking in public areas. “The Southern Commercial Sector has to be revitalized. He has to have life, even if we go for a daring project like the houses in the buildings ”, said Ibaneis.

About the Zona Verde project, which provides for rotary parking in public areas of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha recalled that the population has been heard to arrive at a better solution. Regarding the housing project at SCS, he cited the case of another unit of the federation to revitalize the central area.

“With regard to housing, it is a condition that we have seen in the country. São Paulo only managed to revitalize its center after it released housing. If we do not allow housing in the center, the buildings will not generate interest in occupying them ”, he pointed out. “As it is today, it does not generate jobs or security,” added the local chief executive.

Vicente Pires

The urbanization and infrastructure works in Vicente Pires were another highlight of the interview. The current management has given a new face to the city and even with the disturbances caused by the rains, the works continue. The forecast is that, by December, 90% of the infrastructure works will be concluded.

“This week I went to the Rua 8 project and the commitment is to finish the asphalt on Rua 8 in 15 days. Our perspective is to close 2020 with 90% of the works completed ”, he assures.

“This year’s disturbance will be much less than in other years and the underground galleries will be ready. We have a lot to do in the city, but it is important to remember that we are doing works where the houses are already built, which is different from doing in a neighborhood still under construction. In addition, the entire city is being regularized, ”said Ibaneis Rocha.

Privatization of CEB

Ibaneis Rocha also spoke about the privatization process of Companhia Energética de Brasília (CEB) – Distribuidora. He recalled that the Federal District was close to losing the company’s concession due to the lack of investment capacity.

“We hired the National Bank for Economic and Social Development [BNDES] to not have any kind of problem. We want to give quality of life to the population. No wonder, we received so many complaints today about power outages and great difficulties. This is because the company has no investment capacity. CEB needs to be privatized so that the population has a better service ”, argued Ibaneis Rocha.

After hearing technicians and health and education specialists, Governor Ibaneis Rocha signaled that face-to-face classes in the public school system should not be resumed in 2020. The intention was confirmed during the interview. “I don’t see any condition to have this return from classes. We are not in a position to provide this security ”, he concluded.
